Scientific Software Engineer (23465)

Cambridge
to c£55,000 + Benefits
Filled

C# .NET, Problem Solving, Java / C++, Electronics, Innovation, Science / Maths

Based in Cambridge with on-track plans to rapidly expand their teams, our client has previously taken products to market but now are commercialising stealth projects for novel scientific product development. These applied projects are based on a robust approach to technical problem solving – through experimentation, hands-on optimisation as well as out-of-the-box thinking.

They currently are looking for a degree qualified, applied software engineer to join their multidisciplinary engineering / scientific team. The role would include writing code for algorithm implementation, analytical tools as well as user interfaces for instrumentation control. They expect code to work well within a constrained environment and understand the importance of memory allocation.

The company value good OO engineering experience rather than specific background profiles or career history (you may have worked on financial analytics, database tools or applied scientific software). What you can (and cannot) do with OO code is key. As much of the codebase is in C#, experience with .NET would be a plus, but evidence of good industry project experience with C++ or Java would be equally of interest. Furthermore, additional experience of how to manipulate databases (SQL) and familiar with hardware control (at least in principle) such as Arduinos would be advantageous. Other technology areas of interest include: image processing, instrumentation controls, analytics, algorithm development or maths modelling.
