Managing the development tools environment for optimum productivity

Looking for a varied role with ample opportunities to pick up skills and open up new career horizons? This role might appeal to someone with a developer or DevOps background seeking a broader remit.

The company is a developer of innovative consumer networking hardware and software for a wide range of international clients. They are seeking an adaptable, hands-on engineer to support their development teams and provide them with the best software tools environment for efficient working. You would collaborate with managers and developers to understand their workflow and devise the best set-up for them. This may include setting up build systems, version control systems, network administration, test environments and virtual machines, and the automated deployment of releases.

The role attracts a competitive salary and benefits packages and is located in a convenient location in Cambridge with easy transports links.

You will need:

  • A good degree in a technical subject from a well-recognized university
  • A hands-on, can-do mind-set and an enthusiasm for tackling new tools and technologies.
  • Strong coding skills in Python, Shell Scripts, Groovy
  • Experience with most of the following: network administration, Jenkins, virtual machines and containers, source control systems, cloud infrastructure such as AWS, Azure or Google Compute, development environments such as Visual Studio, build systems such as CMake, and logging tools such as Grafana.
