If you like writing code, expenses-paid travel, meeting other developers, collaborating on software, and you have an interest in business, this could be a great option. Three quarters of the time you’ll be based in the friendly, green and cultural city of Sheffield, working with friendly colleagues at this high-tech company making advanced 3D software.
A quarter of the time you’ll spend meeting developers at other companies, at conferences and at their offices, understanding their needs and showing them why they should bring their business to your company, and working with them when they do. You’ll show demos, build prototypes and examples, and show people what the SDK is capable of. This isn’t a “sales” job, since you can talk in practical terms to fellow coders, but it is about representing your company well.
You’ll have a good relevant degree, commercial software development experience, and you’ll be self-motivated, confident, get on with people, build good relationships and be quick at thinking on your feet. You’ll have a strong grasp of mathematics particularly for geometry and trigonometry. Ideal languages and tools might include: C, C++ or C#; MFC, WPF or Qt; OpenGL, Vulkan or DirectX; Unreal, Unity or other game engines, or CAD software experience. In terms of coding approach, you’ll like a free reign but be able to produce properly decoupled, SOLID and legible solutions.
