Technical Author (25336)
Fancy a change from software development without throwing away all your hard-earned domain knowledge?
We are looking for someone with a solid background in developing software, who has the technical understanding to be able to converse easily with developers, and who is able to translate this into jargon-free documentation suitable for a range of readers. Your role would include liaising with development teams and product management to quickly assimilate technical details and use this understanding to create documentation suitable for readers who might range from domain experts to the layman. As well as creating your own documentation you would provide assistance to other teams and assist with the review and updating of existing material.
You will need:
- A 1st or 2:1 degree from a good university and full right to work in the UK.
- A significant background in software engineering with a detailed understanding of concepts such as cloud, IoT, and security
- Excellent written English, and an enthusiasm for explaining complicated concepts in a simple and readable fashion, creating visuals to aid your explanations where required.
Please note that that your CV will be the first document to be inspected so this will need to be well presented, and devoid of spelling and grammatical errors as well as copied and pasted content.
Desirable skills and experience: Agile, MadCap Flare, experience or prior experimentation with a "docs-like-code" approach, Windows or Linux command line and scripting, version control tools such as Git, and front end web development skills.
