Hands-on Lead Diagnostics Scientist (25677)
Housed in specialised labs and offices, this (non-university) spin-out company was created to commercialise on the existing expertise in hand-held instrumentation and molecular assay development. They are bringing together complementary technologies to build fast, cost-efficient instrumentation for healthcare and medical applications.
A key area is tackling viral infections through sensitive diagnosis – they are keen to utilise engineering know-how coupled with scientific innovations.
The company wishes to recruit a Lead Scientist to drive PCR based assay developments. This will involve hands-on lab based work to show proof-of-principles, demonstrate prototype capabilities and devise practical engineering solutions. The Diagnostics Scientist will lead a small team of molecular biologists, and work closely with colleagues in the engineering team.
- Excellent academic background including a PhD in biochemistry or molecular biology.
- Industry experience in developing PCR based molecular diagnostic assays. This could include RT-PCR, digital PCR, and qPCR.
- Evidence of planning and managing projects in a commercial, time-dependent fashion.
- Ideally will have experience with regulated development processes for medical devices.
- Strong communication skills.
