Software Engineer - Complex Systems (25688)
Are you expert in Java and keen to take on a challenge that is broader than pure software development?
This company is seeking a rare combination of excellent Java programming skills combined with a proven aptitude for working with highly complex systems involving a myriad of dependencies, interactions and subtleties.
Working with a small team of mathematicians and industy experts, you would extend and maintain an intricate modelling framework applicable across a broad spectrum of modelling and optimisation scenarios. With networks of interaction and dependencies, you will need natural curiosity and exceptional problem-solving talent to trace issues to their source.
The codebase is written principally in Java and Spring Boot, and is split between server and desktop applications. Some DevOps work will also be involved but prior DevOps experience is not mandated.
Essential skills and attributes:
- A 1st or 2.1 degree in Mathematics, Computer Science or another applicable subject from a leading university
- Substantial commercial software engineering experience, including experience working on highly complex systems
- Excellent Java coding skills including familiarity with most of: Spring Boot; Guice / Dependency Injection; Maven; REST APIs; and JUnit.
- This is a small company, and cannot offer sponsorship, so you will need full existing right to work in the UK
