Continue to contribute to open source but be paid a regular salary

Are you already aware of kernelci.org ? This might be a clear indicator as to whether this position is for you. Here you will utilise your in depth knowledge of the Linux kernel to provide online technical promotion of the company in the open source arena.

You will be very confident in discussing Linux core system technologies with clients, creating code examples at the drop of a hat. This position is far more than writing device drivers, whilst it is a capability you possess here it will be the ability to help others rather than just churning out drivers yourself.

The company is distributed across the globe and has offices in the UK. This permanent position is to be home based within the UK. It is therefore anticipated that you would commute occasionally to meet with colleagues though in practise these will be rare occasions.

You will demonstrate a strong academic background from a world leading university in a relevant subject related to software development and in particular several of the following:

  • Strong Linux kernel and kernel module development skills
  • Substantial cross-compiling and porting knowledge
  • Exposure to Continuous Integration environments
  • Understanding of open source development methodology and practices
  • Strong English communication in an online fully distributed environment

This is a great opportunity to contribute to open source software while being part of an established company and receive company benefits and a regular salary.
