Lead the scientific development of innovative diagnostics

This well-funded early-stage company is developing technologies for rapid biological health analysis using a multidisciplinary approach. They are now seeking an experienced Senior Applied Physicist to help develop their technology into a market-ready diagnostic device.

You will be working within a cross-disciplinary team of expert scientists and engineers, where your hands-on problem-solving skills and mathematical modelling proficiency will be crucial to achieving the precise control necessary for successful operation.

You will need to be a good all-round experimental physicist with a strong academic background and practical experience to draw upon. You will be happy designing and building experimental set-ups, getting involved in electronics, and carrying out simulations to enable rapid product development.

You will need:

  • A strong academic background: a 1st or 2.1 in Physics from a highly-regarded university AND a PhD in a relevant subject
  • Substantial practical experience in developing experimental set-ups and building equipment to put theoretical predictions to the test
  • Expertise in applied mathematical modelling techniques in engineering, particularly the modelling of heat transfer and thermal control
  • Confidence working closely with colleagues from very different areas of expertise
