Lead Algorithm Developer (25913)

Knowledge of Pedestrian Dead-Reckoning (PDR) or SLAM is essential

In this position you will take the lead in applying statistical signal processing and/or machine learning to Pedestrian Dead-Reckoning (PDR) or Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping (SLAM) systems. Your work will improve the lives of those with disabilities such as vision or mobility impairment.

You will demonstrate a strong academic background from a world leading university. You may have recently completed a PhD relating to PDR or SLAM research, alternatively you might be more experienced and be working on this area for a commercial organisation. In no particular order you will possess the following skills to varying degrees.

  • Strong practical knowledge of statistical signal processing and/or machine learning
  • Exposure to developing and testing PDR and SLAM techniques is vital
  • Understanding of sensor analysis techniques
  • Solid programming/modelling skills in MATLAB/Python/C++
  • Open to working within an agile development team
  • Ability to present your progress successfully

You will be supported by an existing team of software developers while you play a key role in understanding the current algorithms created by a design house and ensuring that knowledge also exists within this company. Once you have a handle on that you will go on to enhance the application of AI techniques to object recognition, depth analysis and SLAM.

This is an excellent opening to characterise and develop advanced navigation systems within a small company currently located in the Cambridge/London areas. At present they are all working from home, though at some point in the future they will pick an office location, however home working may still be a possibility then.
