Senior Software Engineer (25961)

Cambridge, potentially some remote
to £75,000 plus benefits
Filled

Open source, C, Linux and networking

This is a collaborative role for a senior developer skilled in C and on Linux, with an interest working on open source software, and on high-performance networking.

You'll take ownership of key components and collaborate with software and hardware engineers both inside and outside the company. You'll help improve both code and processes, and there are opportunities to engage with the larger developer community.

You'll have:

  • A good degree in computing or an otherwise numerate subject from a top university, backed by strong A-level grades
  • An appreciation of commercial C software development practices and the responsibilities of a senior engineer
  • Demonstrable C programming skills
  • Knowledge of the Linux OS, and networking including Ethernet, TCP/IP and sockets

It is likely you have prior work on C software performance and/or concurrency, optimisation and profiling.

Knowledge of any of the following is also of interest: software defined networking (SDN); network architecture including function virtualization (NFV), Linux architecture, CPU architecture, kernel / driver development.

There is potential for some remote work, perhaps 2-3 days per week, for a candidate located close to Cambridge. This would be discussed at interview, and is not guaranteed at this time, but it may well prove possible.
