Algorithm development and numerical modelling for hydrodynamic systems

This R&D company are developing new innovations based on scientific expertise with plasma physics. They are looking to recruit a Computational Physicist to join them and who will provide expertise of numerical methods and algorithms to solve problems within microphysics models. Key areas will include understanding hydrocode, thermal conduction and radiation physics and computational modelling.

Requirements:

  • Strong academic background in physics or engineering maths including a PhD.
  • Experience with plasma physics including computational modelling and numerical model selection (ideally including hyperbolic and parabolic PDEs).
  • Experience with relevant software languages and tools (C++, Fortran or Python would be desirable).
  • Knowledge of radiation or diffusion transport models, high energy hydrodynamics or compressible flow physics would be advantageous.

As the work is both research and development, strong communication skills are expected (communicate within the group and present to external stakeholders). In return, on offer is an excellent remuneration package including relocation expenses for qualifying candidates and share options.

Keywords: Hydrocode, Simulation Modelling, C++ / Fortran / Python, PDEs, Microphysics, Radiation / Diffusion Physics, Algorithms

Please note: even if you don't have exactly the background indicated, do contact us now if this type of job is of interest - we may well have similar opportunities that you would be suited to. And of course, we always get your permission before submitting your CV to a company.
