This successful Cambridge product development company seeks a Human Factors Consultant who is looking to apply and develop their Human Factors and User Research capabilities. The successful candidate will have a passion for and experience of improving products for their users. They will be able to discover and apply research insights during every stage of the design process from exploration to industrialisation. This group focuses on the development of diagnostic devices, desktop biology systems for a range of diagnoses including assessing antibiotic resistance, profiling DNA to aid in health choices and developing pooled screening for Covid-19. Talented and inquisitive individuals with some experience of this application area would be of particular interest.

The successful candidate will have a passion for improving products for users, and the enthusiasm to drive new ideas forward. They will also have the intelligence and ability to think for themselves in a way that generates valuable insight. As a Human Factors Consultant, you will be part of a team of creative human factors experts, engineers, physicists and designers delivering successful products to market.

You must have a 1st or 2.1 from a leading university in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Psychology or a closely related discipline; candidates from a Product Design background, with subsequent experience in Human Factors are also of interest.

Key attributes:

  • Strong creativity and insight combined with deep understanding of product usability
  • High level of empathy and interpersonal skills
  • Experience planning and designing research and human factors activities and projects
  • Knowledge of qualitative or quantitative human factors research methods
  • Excellent communication skills, including experience driving interviews and workshops with key stakeholders
  • An understanding of the regulations used in Human Factors Engineering
