Business strategy for technology innovators

Our client seeks a skilled strategist with a STEM background and a talent for business development to join their Cambridge based team, looking after multi-national clients from a range of industry sectors including: MedTech, Aerospace and Consumer Goods.

Working with developers, engineers and scientists, your role will be to quickly understand technical developments and their strategic implications for clients. Drawing on your experience in business strategy and your technology background, you will be able to advise clients when to invest in new technology and also when it is time to find a new approach for their business.

The work will stretch your analytical skills and will also utilise your already well-established client-facing skills. You will help senior management define their innovation strategies and translate these strategies into implementable activities. At times, you will act as a reliable coach to corporate innovation teams focussed on creating new products, services and business models. You may also help corporate clients adopt new frameworks and ways of working in order to navigate transformational change.

Your office would be based in the heart of Cambridge and hybrid working is supported – up to three days a week can be worked remotely. Occasionally travel to the US may also be necessary in the future.

Skills and attribute necessary for this position include:

  • A top class degree in a STEM subject from a well-respected university plus some commercial experience in strategy and business development
  • The ability to work well in a team of engineers and scientists, understanding the concepts and implications of any issues or discoveries that are brought to light
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills – you must be able to clearly explain complicated subjects
  • Able to always keep “the bigger picture” in mind
  • Previous consulting or management experience would also be desirable

Full right to work in the UK without time limit or sponsorship will also be needed.
