Horizon Scanning and Strategy Consultant (26240)

A client-facing role in the med-tech field, with real potential for development

This is an exciting and varied role suitable for someone with a technical background who is looking to move out of the lab and use their talent for communicating effectively with people.

Your knowledge of science and engineering will help you understand the implications of research findings and will fuel your curiosity to seek out, understand and contribute to the latest innovations in medical technology, whether that be by technology scouting, proposal development interviewing key experts in the field or advising clients on their next strategy.

This is the type of position where every day will be different. You could be interviewing patients and healthcare professionals about the challenges they face administering a particular drug in the morning, researching market trends and horizon scanning for competitor products in the afternoon, whilst the following day you may be presenting at the workshop you helped plan and organise.

To succeed in this fun and challenging role, you will need to be organised, and unafraid of the unknown – it will be up to you to map out and explore the new areas of technology. You will be supported, encouraged and trained by highly skilled professionals who are keen to see you make the most of your potential. The company is a close-knit team and prefer people to be in the office the majority of the time, to share ideas and knowledge, but they also appreciate that a quieter environment is sometimes more productive and offer hybrid working. Normally, this position would also include opportunities to regularly travel to the USA and Europe and it is hoped this will soon resume.

Key attributes:

  • A good degree from a well-respected university in a STEM subject combined with evidence of a good appreciation of the pressures of a commercial environment, preferably involving healthcare or medical equipment
  • Good organisational skills, possibly including project management or project co-ordination experience
  • Excellent communication skills, which may also include knowledge of one or two European languages
  • An energetic, positive and curious mindset

Full right to work in the UK without time limit or sponsorship will be necessary.
