CAD for complex scientific instruments used in R&D

This growing company is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. They develop and build complex scientific instruments used for experimental R&D. This involves applications based on electromagnetics, pulsed light and gas propulsion.

For this role, key responsibilities for the Mechanical Design Engineer will include: producing 3D CAD engineering drawings for manufacture; contributions to the design review; and ensuring timely delivery of manufactured components.

Requirements:

  • Degree or HND in mechanical engineering.
  • Demonstrable project experience using a mainstream CAD package (ideally SolidWorks).
  • Experience with complex 3D CAD assemblies and drawings. Exposure to working with vacuum systems, lasers, high voltages, pressure vessels or similar technologies would be desirable.
  • Knowledge of precision manufacturing is beneficial.
