Assay development for molecular cell applications on-a-chip

This Cambridge based scientific tech company are growing and are looking to recruit a hands-on Senior Biochemist Scientist to join their team. Their platform is based on proprietary technology for molecular and cellular applications on-a-chip using light manipulation.

As part of their Biology team, you will work on multidisciplinary projects to deliver benchmarking assays, optimise reagent usage and sensitivity, and provide scientific and technical feedback for integration of software, instrumentation controls and optics. This will include relevant documentation and presentations. As a senior member of the team, you will participate (and possibly lead) technical team discussions and problem-solving exercises, mentor junior members within the Biology team, liaise with external collaborators, and help plan for overall projects.

Requirements

  • Academics: 1st / 2.1 degree in biochemistry or biological sciences followed by post-graduate degree (preference is for a PhD holder).
  • Lab-based postdoctoral / industry experience working on the development or optimisation of biochemical assays or in vitro techniques for cellular applications.
  • Demonstrable experience with development and validation of assays including analysis from instrumentation readouts. This should include sensitivity, specificity, reproducibility, and precision.
  • Good problem solving and communication skills.

As this is a senior role, any exposure to mentoring and project leadership would be desirable. Further, any experience with: single cell / molecule technologies; high throughput assays; applied -omics techniques; ISO 13485 (or similar) would be advantageous.

This is an excellent opportunity for a post-doc to transition to industry or for someone in industry to take up a more senior role with this growing company. In return, a competitive salary with excellent benefits is on offer. As this is a lab-based role, it is expected the holder of this position would be onsite at their labs. Infrequent home-working is possible when project work allows.
