This scientific product development company provide solutions used by customers around the world for biological screenings. Their products are a mix of hardware and science, utilising immunoassay-based technologies. Their R&D team are looking to hire a hands-on senior candidate to join them as a R&D Scientist.

In this role, you would work closely with their Head of R&D and take technical hands-on leadership on projects. You would lead the design, development and optimisation of immunoassay technologies including protein conjugates and assay components. You will take responsibility for QC and validation, as well as relevant documentation. You may also work on customer pilot projects and proof-of-concept experiments. You would represent the company at conferences and be a technical authority at customer meetings.

Requirements

  • You’ll have a degree in biochemistry, protein science or similar, followed by a relevant PhD and additional post-doctoral experience (either in industry or academia); or equivalent industry experience leading to your present role as a senior scientist.
  • Hands-on experience working in a lab and leading projects in immunoassay development. This could be in clinical applications, immunodiagnostics or immuno-based lateral flow devices.

It is expected that interested applicants will have good communication skills – are able to explain highly technical concepts to lay audiences as well as scientific experts. Further, they will have had some exposure in mentoring and supporting junior team members, as well as delegating projects.

Due to the nature of projects, the R&D are mostly based onsite, although occasional home-working is permitted when project work allows.
