Development and test of innovative opto-mechatronic instruments

Based in dedicated labs and offices in Cambridge, this multi-disciplinary product company are developing an instrumentation platform used by scientific companies. They are currently looking to hire a Mechatronics Engineer with strong mechanical engineering and optics experience to join them.

The role will include design, test and development of mechatronics and optics systems; devise system tests and metrology experiments to validate functionality; and collaborate / manage external stakeholders and manufacture partners.

Requirements

  • 1st / 2.1 degree in engineering and demonstrable experience in successful delivery of opto-mechanical instruments and / or precision-based motion control within a mechatronic system.
  • Experience with 3D CAD packages (ideally SolidWorks).
  • Past project experience with systems working in a regulated environment.
  • Excellent communication skills (collaborating with technical people from other disciplines or other stakeholders).

The problems being solved are complex and require a collaborative approach to successfully deliver innovations. Good teamwork and appreciation of meeting deadlines is important.
