Software development in a scientific instrumentation start-up

Are you ready to lead and inspire an enthusiastic team of software developers who work closely with engineers and scientists to innovate medical diagnostics?

A friendly and rapidly expanding start-up company seeks a Software Manager with a strong background in the successful delivery of projects using Agile (Scrum / Kanban) methodology, to play an important role in the integration of software into their new instrumentation. The right candidate will have a thorough understanding of the full software development lifecycle and will enjoy dividing their time between getting involved with technical challenges and people management.

The Software Manager will be responsible for ensuring substantial project goals are met, as well as stakeholder management and building strong working relationships across teams. Running daily stand-ups, development sprints and building a strong team of talented and engaged developers will also be part of the day-to-day routines.

Previous experience developing scientific instrumentation would be beneficial but isn’t a necessity to be considered for this role.

You will need:

  • A solid background in Agile (Scrum/Kanban) software delivery and project management.
  • Proven leadership skills, including managing talented software engineers in a matrix environment.
  • To enjoy the fast pace of a start-up atmosphere and be able to show previous success delivering projects in similar situations.
  • An impressive academic record, including a good degree (2.1 or above) in a relevant technical discipline such as Software Engineering, Computer Science or similar.
  • Full rights to work in the UK without time limit or sponsorship.

The company offers a friendly working atmosphere at their modern Cambridge offices, where remote working is available on an ad hoc, flexible basis.
