Applying biochemistry-based technologies for multidisciplinary projects

Whether you are waiting for your doctoral viva, completing a postdoc, or working as an experienced scientist in industry – if you are looking for a challenging applied role where your skills, knowledge and experience will be used to develop next-generation biological tools and technologies, please read on.

This established technology company works closely with their clients to develop, build and prototype a range of sophisticated products / platforms that are expected to have impact for companies or people worldwide. This is not a research role, as a biochemist in this multidisciplinary team, you will provide the knowledge / expertise for biochemistry interfacing with other disciplines. You’ll develop assays and design experiments to validate technologies. Your work could be around new scientific instruments used in biology, DNA sequencing workflows, single-cell analysis or antibody screening platforms.

Requirements

  • Academics: 1st / 2.1 in biochemistry (or similar) followed by a relevant PhD.
  • Knowledge and competence: Molecular and cellular biochemistry including relevant modern analytical tools and methodologies.
  • Experience: Demonstrable projects developing new protocols in biochemistry including experimental validation (through hands-on wet lab work).
  • Communications: Experience discussing highly technical and scientific understandings with a range of audiences; history of multidisciplinary collaboration is beneficial.

Experience in project leadership, working to industry standards or exposure to business development within the life science sector would be of interest.

This is an excellent opportunity to use your biochemistry background on varied, interesting projects that result in new products being developed (not writing research literature). An excellent compensation package is available including relocation expenses for qualifying candidates. Due to the nature of the work, it is expected you would mostly be based at their labs / offices.
