Innovation and prototyping to production software engineering and development

This Cambridge team are part of a collaborative technology group who are the innovation arm for a multinational product development company. They mostly work remotely with occasional onsite meetings (1-2 days per month) at their Cambridge offices. They develop, innovate and contribute to new technologies around audio and video communications. This could include optimisations, prototyping, proof-of-concept, and production delivery. Quality is key to their projects.

The team consist of experienced engineers who can work independently as well as collaboratively when required. They come up with new ideas, look to solve problems, as well as engineer solutions that can be delivered for products. As a company, their products are well-respected by users and the engineering behind it is well-considered.

They are currently looking to expand their team and seek a principal level software engineer to join them. To be considered, they are looking for hands-on, demonstrable software project experience with sophisticated hardware-based products. This could be in image processing, computer vision, audio DSP or embedded consumer products. Further you will have:

  • Extensive experience with C++ (this is used for most production code), but further experience with Python, C, JavaScript, Java, or MATLAB would be useful.
  • Strong academic background (including a degree in maths, computer science or electronics) followed by successful production-delivered software-product experience.
  • Exposure to applied ML including use of computer vision libraries.
  • Full understanding of the overall architecture of software applications.

As the role is mostly remote based, it is expected that you would be comfortable in such a setting and can work productively in an independent environment. This should include good communication skills in order to collaborate effectively with others. Candidates must be based close to Cambridge as occasional in-person collaborations / meetings are expected.
