Flexible work support for experienced React Developer; Hybrid options

Is your work life spilling into home life? Are you stressed from trying to balance work projects with attendance for school events or other activities? This Cambridge based company may have the solution for you.

The company offers support to accommodate a healthy work-life balance. The working week is contractually 37.5 hours, but there’s no clocking-in or clocking-out. If you prefer to start early so you can leave work at 3.30pm, that’s possible. If you need to get away by 2pm to pick up children and then can log back on to work on projects later, that’s possible. Hybrid work is taken up by most, with people being in the office 1-2 days per week (although there needs to be some allowances to come into the office when the need is there) – preference is for people to be based in Cambridge or close to Cambridge.

They develop desktop and cloud based enterprise software used by businesses across Europe and UK. Their software is used for energy commodity tracking and auditing. The technical work is based around interesting engineering applications and writing efficient code rather than ground-breaking innovative algorithms and architecture. Minimising technical debt and having easily maintainable code is a key goal.

The company are keen to recruit an experienced React Software Developer who will provide expertise to the existing software team. They have utilised a few features of React and are looking to implement further aspects as they expand their React applications.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience as a software developer working on web applications and most recently with React and TypeScript for front end applications.
  • Experience using Jest for unit testing and Cypress for integration testing. Any exposure to C# or AWS would be desirable.
  • Experience working within an agile environment, ideally with exposure to TDD, Pair Programming, SOLID or eXtreme Programming processes.

In such a supportive company, employee retention is high. Their recruitment is based not just on technical skills but also on team fit. They like people who enjoy working in small (less than 10 people), collaborative, cross-functional teams. They are keen to understand the type of work you enjoy and application areas, rather than long lists of technology key words. They like people who can evidence working on all aspects of the software product life cycle and not just the new flashy areas – maintaining code is also an area that needs to be performed.

On offer is a competitive salary, bonus scheme, private health care and enhanced pension. Currently, no company sponsorship is available. Only applicants with unrestricted rights to work in the UK will be considered. Fully remote is not possible.
