Senior Design Engineer (27539)
This small team of highly accomplished engineers are working at the cutting-edge of the defence industry, developing a whole new approach to defence systems based on adaptability. Their systems learn in response to emerging threats, able to change without needing to be returned to base or reprogrammed. They are currently developing anti-drone and electronic warfare devices and believe their unique design philosophy is applicable to a great many areas.
As a Senior Design Engineer, you will be taking ideas from prototype to production. This is very much a hands-on role working with colleagues in mechanical, electronics and software engineering. Your ability to quickly understand problems and iteratively develop solutions using CAD and their on-site workshop are key. Often deployed on the battlefield, the products you’ll design need to be durable, and easy to manufacture.
You will have a background in engineering and held similar positions in the past (although not necessarily in the defence industry). You will be highly proficient with CAD software and comfortable in a workshop using additive manufacturing (3D printing) as well as standard machining tools. While you will probably have a speciality in either mechanical or electronics engineering, you will be comfortable helping with either. Academically, you will have a degree in a STEM subject. Due to the nature of the work, you will need to be British or a British dual national and be resident in the UK for the past 5-years.
They are located in picturesque surroundings in an historic market town south of Cambridge and with a well-stocked workshop. The team is small, motivated and fully funded by the founders. The work is truly cutting-edge, and you will have a significant impact on every aspect of product development.
