Electrical Engineer (27564)

Cambridge
to £60,000 DoE + Benefits

Engineer electrical solutions for advanced automated equipment

This company is developing a suite of automated manufacturing equipment designed for use in spaces from small labs through to large factories. This is not a single piece of machinery but instead a set of interconnected devices which can be scaled to meet the demands of the customer. Much of the hardware and controlling software is functional and has been demonstrated successfully and now work is turning towards productionisation. This includes developing layouts and architecture for power distribution, communications and safety systems and they are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join and help solve these challenges.

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of industrial and serial communication protocols such as EtherCat, Profinet, RS-232 and RS-485.
  • Good knowledge of designing industrial control systems (PLCs, motor controllers, sensors, actuators, etc…) including safety systems in accordance with ISO 13849.
  • Skilled in the design and build of low-voltage single- and three-phase power distribution panels. This should include the use of MCBs, RCDs and RFI filters and a practical understanding of cabling, wiring and commissioning.
  • Thorough understanding of creating electrical documentation packs (including schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs, etc) and test schedules.

You will be working out of modern and picturesque offices on the outskirts of Cambridge. Due to the nature of the work, you will need to be able to attend the office full time, so hybrid working is not available. Otherwise, benefits are excellent with generous pension contributions, private medical insurance, enhanced family-friendly leave, and a supportive, collaborative work environment.

Please note: even if you don't have exactly the background indicated, do contact us now if this type of job is of interest - we may well have similar opportunities that you would be suited to. And of course, we always get your permission before submitting your CV to a company.
