Start your career and develop your programming skills

Are you looking for a boost to start your career in software? Not all courses prepare you with the skills you’ll need in an Agile software team, and some of the best developers we’ve worked with started out in industry in that context.

If you’re a bright graduate with a strong knowledge of computer science, and you’re looking for an opportunity learn as you work, this could be the chance for you. A top scientific software company in Cambridge are looking for such a person to join them.

You’ll gain experience working as part of an Agile development team who use technologies like C#, TypeScript and Angular (do note, you do not need existing experience in these!). Your initial focus will be improving and developing your programming and scripting skills, and you’ll be cutting code as part of their application automation and diagnostics suite, to help to improve their software applications and platforms.

You will need:

  • A good degree in computer science or applied computing from a well-ranked university, and strong A-level grades; you’ll have retained a good amount of what you learned
  • The ability to understand complex systems, think in abstractions, and take a “divide and conquer” (divide and rule) approach to problem solving
  • Some existing aptitude for programming (and it’ll be something you enjoy doing)
  • Numeracy, and an analytical mindset
  • An appetite for learning; and, enthusiasm!

This is a full time and permanent position in a company with a good culture and a lasting track record. As well as a competitive salary, they offer a comprehensive benefits package including private medical care, bonuses, and an excellent pension for your future. Their Cambridge offices have parking on-site and are a short walk from a nearby train station, plus being in easy cycling distance for Cambridge residents.
