Provide structural mechanics understanding for applied physics modelling

Wanted for an immediate start - a self-starting graduate to join this consultancy technical team. In this role, you would work closely with clients from both academia and industry to help develop initial simulation models based on first principles of structural mechanics, providing relevant demonstrations and instructions. Whilst specific training with software tools will be provided, interested applicants must already possess a strong understanding of structural mechanics and know how to apply them for complex modelling within physics or engineering problems.

Requirements:

  • Strong academic background including A*/A or B graded A-levels in Maths and Physics; followed by a completed degree in Mechanical Engineering or Physics from a reputable university. Additional Masters qualifications would be desirable.
  • Demonstrable background (either through final year modules or extended projects) in structural mechanics including areas such as: plasticity; viscoelasticity; fatigue; non-linear structural dynamics; or fluid-structure interactions.
  • Experience with modelling software tools including finite element analysis.
  • Strong communication skills (experience in demonstrating or teaching would be beneficial).

This is an excellent entry level role for someone with the right personality to fit a customer-interacting role coupled with the technical background (and interest) in structural mechanics and maths modelling. In return, your career will be supported through in-house training and interesting project work. You'll be mentored but given a free-rein to work independently.

In the first instance, work will be remote, but longer term, the expectations would be to work at their offices in Cambridge.

At this time, only applicants who can work in the UK without restrictions can be considered. Interested applicants are invited to send in their CV.
