A broad physics role, working on a wide variety of interesting projects

Due to growth and investment this leading development team are seeking a hands-on R&D Physicist to join them, working on a very broad spectrum of projects and products. Application areas might be any of medical devices, consumer electronics, energy, manufacturing, or food science.

As you may imagine, with such an array of possible work, there will be a constant supply of interesting problems for you to pit your wits against, so you will be adaptable and willing to tackle unfamiliar subject matter, picking up new skills as the situation demands.

The work will include a substantial amount of hands-on experimentation as well as modelling and investigation to prove the viability of ideas. You will need to be a confident communicator, happy to discuss requirements, ideas, and progress with clients. The company places an emphasis on developing its staff and over time the role features opportunities to move into management or commercial work, or indeed to stay on the technical career path, with training available on a range of subjects.

You will need:

  • A 1st or 2.1 degree in Physics or a closely related subject from a top university with mostly A* and A grades at A-level (or equivalent overseas qualifications) including a top grade for Physics. An MSc or PhD in a relevant subject would be advantageous.
  • A demonstrable broad knowledge of physics fundamentals.
  • Proven hands-on experimental skills with expertise in more than one of: electronics, sensors, acoustics, electromagnetism, or optics.
  • Full existing right to work in the UK without restriction, time limit, or sponsorship.

This is a great opportunity to join an established company with excellent career prospects and scope for growing your skills. They are based in pleasant modern offices and have well-equipped laboratory facilities. On offer to the successful candidate is a highly competitive salary and benefits package.
