Getting into mathematical consultancy in technology-driven financial services

Are you looking to start your career or keen to transition into a consultancy? This Cambridge based company is keen to hire and is looking for numerate and able people to join them as Analysts with future aspirations to become consultants.

The company work with clients across the world which have included within Europe, South America, Australia and Asia. They provide key mathematical modelling expertise for technology-based problems impacting financial and business solutions. As an Analyst, you would work closely with senior consultants in small project groups, and therefore be part of presentation teams. As you prove yourself, you can expect rapid development of your career and increases in your remunerations.

Requirements:

  • Top academics comprising 2 or more A*/A grades in Maths, Further Maths or Physics at A-level (or 40+ at IB); 1st or high 2.1 grade bachelors degree from a top ranked university (ideally in maths, physics or engineering); and a Masters / PhD.
  • Demonstrable project experience on a strongly numerate area (ideally involving statistics or multi-variable mathematical modelling). Note, tools / software used is less important here than the actual methodologies and problem solving you have done.
  • Internship experience within a modelling group or within a management consultancy would be desirable.
  • Strong communication skills including in presentations and in relationship building with potential clients.

Whilst travelling has been limited due to the pandemic, it is expected that travelling to meet clients (up to 30% of your time) would again become the norm. This means that applicants should be flexible (and ideally enjoy travel).
