Software Engineer in AI, Embedded C (26307)
A research team is looking to recruit an Embedded Software Engineer to join them on a two-year fixed-term contract based at an AI R&D company who are developing 3D computer vision systems to Edge computing platforms. The successful candidate will be employed by the university but work full-time as part of the company’s team with the ongoing support of university academics for the research aspects.
This is a super opportunity to be involved in innovative work within this fast-moving area, bringing your knowledge of embedded software to a successful start-up company. Working alongside experts in deep learning, you will work to optimise AI algorithms and integrate them into low-power embedded systems.
You will also have the opportunity to continue your own academic development, with a dedicated budget and opportunities for further learning. When the university fixed-term contract completes in 2024, there is a strong possibility that the AI company will continue your employment.
The requirements are: -
- A good degree (1st or 2.1 from a highly-ranked university) in electronics, physics, software engineering or similar
- Experience of embedded software development in C, working on resource-constrained platforms (this could be within a commercial setting or research)
- Interest and enthusiasm for computer vision and/or deep learning
- Ability to work within a small team, displaying a collaborative and confident approach to work
This is an excellent opportunity for technically interesting and relevant work; the company’s systems are already being used by transport clients.
As well as a competitive salary, the university offers a portfolio of benefits including budgets for personal development, additional allowances, and a supportive academic base.
