Engineering problems in extreme environments

This is a new role within a specialised team working on engineering design problems in a physics-related application. If you are keen to use engineering and physics to explore environmental extremes, this could be the role for you!

The role is to use the basis of theoretical physics designs to invent new complex systems, requiring a good understanding of the effects of massively high temperatures and pressures on the components’ shapes and materials. There are unusually complex physical processes at play and the team will work together to create modelled solutions. Ultimately, the systems are manufactured in-house with the resultant experimentation and analysis used to improve the outcomes.

The requirements are:-

  • Good first degree from a highly-ranked university in engineering or physics
  • A love of solving engineering problems and evidence of using those skills e.g. within an internship or final year project – this evidence must be outlined in your application
  • Experience in using Python for analysis of experimental data and drawing conclusions
  • Enthusiasm and desire to work in a multidisciplinary team environment

This dynamic company is well-funded and offers a friendly working environment close to Oxford. The team works closely with both computational and experimental physicists. An excellent package is on offer, including competitive salary, share options and flexible working.

This role is subject to vetting procedures similar to security clearance.
