Software consultancy role in CFD for industry and academia

Graduates / postgraduates / experienced engineers keen to work in a client-facing role, providing expertise with CFD related knowledge, are invited to apply.

This role is with the UK office of this multinational company. Based in Cambridge, the team provide technical expertise with mathematical software modelling for a range of engineering and physics applications. This includes feasibility studies based on fundamentals / first principles, workshops and presentations. Work therefore can be varied, and would involve some travel within the UK and occasionally further afield.

Requirements:

  • Strong academic background including A*/A grades in Maths and Physics, followed by a 1st / 2.1 in Physics, Engineering or Applied Maths. Further advanced degrees (Masters or PhD) or relevant industry experience would be highly desirable.
  • Strong demonstrable CFD understanding including: turbulence modelling, flow in rotating machinery, multiphase flow modelling, or non-Newtonian flow. This should be supported through projects using finite element methods and numerical simulations. Use of any mainstream maths modelling software tools is highly beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills (this is a client-facing role after all). This should include written and oral skills. Any experience in teaching / demonstrating CFD related topics would be advantageous.

The role would suit someone who is interested in other engineering and physics areas as many projects do overlap. Applicants must have full rights to work in the UK (no company sponsorship is available).

The company support careers and provide a collaborative environment to develop skills and learn good professional conduct. In return, a competitive salary is available including benefits and performance-based-bonus. It is expected that the role would be mostly based at their Cambridge office, but some hybrid working is possible.
