Developing in-house numerical analysis software

This specialist consultancy develops analysis software, used by their numerical modellers, for a range of multi-physics processes. These include applications in atmospheric entry, trajectory analysis, high-speed flight, and satellite design.

They seek a Computer Scientist / Numerical Physicist who will support the development and maintenance of this analysis software. As well as introducing new features the Computer Scientist / Numerical Physicist will manage the internal Linux network and HPC infrastructure.

Requirements:-

  • Excellent academic record including 1st/2.1 degree in Theoretical Physics, Engineering or Computer Science, backed up by A levels in maths and physics at A or A* grades. Relevant postgraduate study is also of interest.
  • Must have single UK nationality and have resided in the UK for the past five years
  • Strong mix of scientific and software skills (Python, Fortran), ideally with experience of numerical analysis software or CFD
  • Exposure to Linux system administration, most likely in an academic setting
