Mechanical Design Engineer (27122)
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join a London based start-up company developing autonomous systems. The company is involved in a range of projects for maritime, aerospace and terrestrial vehicles to support humanitarian, security and defence goals.
The dedicated team are motivated to make a positive difference to the world and they seek a flexible engineer who will enjoy working from first principles to create and develop innovative designs which prioritise reliability and usability whilst maintaining aesthetically pleasing standards. The designs and prototypes may be totally customised or involve a mix of integrated off the shelf components, whichever is the best route to get the job done.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will be able to show evidence of:
- A good degree (2:1 or above) in a technical or engineering subject.
- Practical, in-depth experience of either SolidWorks, Creo or similar 3D CAD / CAM tool.
- An excellent understanding of the physical principles behind mechanical design concepts, along with a good appreciation of the aesthetics involved in good product design.
- Skilled in creating commercial standard mechanical designs incorporating electromechanical and electronic components.
- The ability to create components and prototypes using 3D printing, injection moulding, sheet metal fabrication and machining.
- Full rights to work in the UK without time limit or sponsorship.
Ideally, you may also have:
- Familiarity with European CE Marking and/or US NRTL marks
- Knowledge of military standards such as MIL-STD-810 and experience with Ingress Protection design and certification
- Good understanding of design for electromagnetic compatibility
A healthy remuneration package is available for the successful candidate, together with share options for the business. There are also opportunities for travel to internationally based client sites.
